Dynamic QR codes on the free tier
5 editable codes, 2,000 tracked scans a month, and they keep resolving if you never pay a rupee.

Set the destination it should point at today5 free, and they keep resolving
https://qrrd.in/menuDownloading here would give you a code for a short link nobody has reserved, so it would stop resolving the moment someone else claims it. Create the code first and the file is yours in all five formats.
Worth knowing before you reprint anything
The redirect does not wait on anything
Edge lookup, then a queue for everything else. Analytics, billing and AI all happen after the reader has already gone, and killing any of them does not affect a single redirect.
Static codes stay unlimited
The cap is on the dynamic ones, because those are the ones with a service behind them. Static codes cost nothing to keep working and are not counted.
You can change the destination as often as you like
There is no cap on edits, and no version of this where editing costs a credit.
The short version, in 4 facts
- How many dynamic codes the free tier carries
- 5, with 2,000 tracked scans a month and 30 days of history.
- What happens at the sixth code
- You cannot create another until you delete one or upgrade. Nothing already printed is affected — the cap stops new codes, not existing ones.
- What happens if you never pay
- All five keep resolving and you keep editing them. Scan counting stops at the monthly cap; the codes do not.
- What a free code gives up
- 30 days of history rather than months, no API access, one seat, no custom domain. The redirect itself is not degraded — no slower path, no interstitial, no watermark.
The limit stops new codes, not printed ones
The free tier carries 5 dynamic codes, 2,000 tracked scans a month and 30 days of history. Past the cap you cannot create another and the scans stop being counted. Every code already in the world keeps resolving — including through a downgrade and through a cancellation, each with its own test.

What you give up by staying free
Measurement, mostly: 30 days of history rather than months, no API access, one seat, no custom domain. The codes themselves are not degraded — there is no slower redirect, no interstitial and no watermark on a free plan.
Make a free dynamic QR code
Set the destination it should point at today
This is the only part you can change later, and changing it is the entire reason to use a dynamic code rather than a static one.
Choose the short link
Shorter is better and the reason is physical: fewer characters means a lower symbol version, fewer modules and a code that survives being printed small. The hint under the field shows the version your slug produces.
Create the account the code needs to resolve
A dynamic code is a short link, and a short link needs something answering it. That is the one thing a browser cannot do on its own, which is why this preview does not hand you a downloadable file.
Print it, then repoint it whenever you like
There is no cap on edits and no version of this where changing a destination costs a credit.
Questions
What happens to my five codes if I never upgrade?
They keep resolving, and you keep editing them. Scan counts stop at the monthly cap.
Can I delete one to free a slot?
Yes — but a deleted code is one people may have already printed. Repointing an existing code is almost always the better move.
Do free codes redirect more slowly?
No. There is one redirect path and it is the same for every tier: edge lookup, sub-30ms, with everything else queued behind it.
Why can I not download the code from this page?
Because the slug shown here is not reserved for you. A downloaded file would be a printable code pointing at a short link that resolves to nothing today and to whoever claims it tomorrow — the exact failure the continuity rule exists to prevent. Create the code and the file is yours in all five formats.
Is a dynamic code bigger than a static one?
Usually smaller. A static code carries the whole destination, so a long URL means a dense symbol; a dynamic code carries a short link of about twenty characters whatever the destination is. That is why dynamic codes print smaller and scan further.
Can I use my own domain for the short link?
Not on the free tier — a custom domain is a paid feature. It is also the thing worth paying for if you ever intend to leave a provider, because codes on a domain you control can be moved and codes on ours cannot.
What counts as a tracked scan?
One resolution of the short link. The count is what stops at the monthly cap; the resolution never does, so scans past the cap still reach your destination and are not measured.
