ANALYTICS AND CAMPAIGNS

Reading your analytics

What each number means, where it comes from, and what we deliberately don't record.

Open Analytics in the sidebar for every code in your workspace, or a code's own Analytics link for that code alone. Only dynamic codes and short links are counted: a static code's content is in the pattern, so a scan never reaches us.

The headline numbers

  • Total scans: every scan in the period you've chosen.
  • Unique visitors: scans counted once per person per day. See how we count people below.
  • Repeat rate: the share of scans from someone who had already scanned the same code that day.
  • Peak day: the day with the most scans.
  • Top city: where most scans came from.

Choose a date range at the top. Every chart has a written summary above it.

The breakdowns

  • Where: country, region and city. A scan whose location couldn't be told shows as "not reported" rather than being dropped, so the shares add up.
  • Devices: device type, operating system and browser.
  • How people came: the referring site, for short links shared online.
  • Language and time zone of the phone.
  • Over time: scans per day, and the busiest hours.
  • Campaign: when codes belong to a campaign.

If you pay for any plan, you see every breakdown for your own scans.

How we count people, and what we don't store

We never store a scanner's IP address. Each scan is turned into a one-way code that changes every day, which is enough to count a person once per day without being able to identify them or follow them from one day to the next. Scanning never sets a cookie.

Keeping your numbers clean

  • Turn on test mode on a code's page before scanning your own printout. Those scans won't count.
  • Bots, such as search engines, AI crawlers and most link previews, aren't counted as scans. Their visits are shown separately as crawler visits.

When the scan limit is reached

Every plan includes a number of tracked scans a month. Past that, codes keep redirecting at full speed and only measurement pauses until the period resets or you upgrade. We email you when it happens. There is never an overage charge.
