DOMAINS AND BRAND

Custom domains

Serve your codes from your own domain instead of qrrd.in, so a scan shows your name in the address bar.

Open Domains from the sidebar. A custom domain, such as links.yourcompany.in, replaces qrrd.in in your short links. It also opens up Product links and App links. Pricing shows which plans include custom domains and how many.

Add a domain

  1. Choose Add a domain and enter the hostname, such as links.yourcompany.in.
  2. Publish the CNAME record the screen shows, at your domain's DNS provider.
  3. Choose Check DNS. DNS changes can take up to an hour to appear, and we keep checking on our own.

Nothing resolves on the domain until that record is live. Once it points to us, HTTPS is issued for it, and new codes can use it when the certificate is active.

Primary and secondary domains

  • Primary: new dynamic codes use this domain unless you pick another.
  • Secondary: new codes use your primary unless you pick this one.

Choose Make primary on a secondary domain to switch. There's no demote: a domain becomes secondary when another becomes primary, because a workspace with no primary has nowhere to point new codes.

What a domain does to a code's size

A longer link makes a denser code, which needs a larger smallest print size. The screen measures the same short code on each of your domains and shows the smallest print for each. A longer domain is worth it for brand trust on a poster, but usually not on packaging.

Where other visitors go

Under Where this domain sends other visitors, set:

  • The bare domain: where someone goes if they type the domain with nothing after it. Leave it empty and they see our page explaining that this is a short-link domain.
  • An unknown short code: where a code that never existed, or was archived, goes. Leave it empty and they see our page saying so.

Either way, the visitor sees your domain in the address bar. Changes reach the edge within five minutes.

Codes already printed

A code is printed with the domain it was made on, and it keeps working there. To print an existing code on a new domain, open the code and duplicate it onto that domain: same destination and design, a new pattern.

If your plan changes and you're over its domain limit, every code on those domains keeps resolving.
